Furlani Foods Corp. (Furlani’s) manufactures toast bread, French bread, breadsticks and specialty breads at its facility in Ontario. The Facility includes manufacturing, engineering and maintenance, storage, receiving and shipping, as well as administration offices. Furlani’s hired Altech to conduct an environmental audit to provide an independent, impartial review of the site in order to assess compliance in relation to applicable environmental legislation, regulations, guidelines and the Company’s written policies, as well as identify any opportunities for the implementation of environmental management best practices.

The scope of the audit included an assessment of environmental management systems; permits and approvals; designated materials storage and handling; hazardous waste management; spill prevention and emergency response; air quality management; water quality management; land and groundwater quality management; and reporting.

Altech’s audit effectively determined whether Furlani’s operations were in compliance with regional and federal authorities, and provided recommended opportunities for improvement. Altech’s history and expertise with food & beverage sites allowed for a timely and cost-effective audit, and detailed analysis which will allow Furlani’s to maintain and improve its operations.
